Monday & a commute

Yesterday the weather was about perfect, well maybe except for swimming.  I spent the afternoon messing around in the garage.  I cleaned the Giant.  Then I put a rack on the Fuji.  I moved the lights over to the Fuji and also dug out an old Bell cyclometer and installed it.  I don’t remember entirely how it works though.  But I miraculously still have the book so I got it set up correctly.  I also added a couple of pieces of reflective tape to the pedals.

This morning was the Fuji’s maiden commuting voyage.  Overall it went well with a couple of blips.  I was carrying my laptop, which is made for someone with a substantial lap. I used my grocery panniers so I tended to list a little to that side.

Riding clipless pedals has changed my stroke so much that riding platforms is now difficult.  Apparently I’ve developed the habit of pulling through the top of the stroke, which is a good thing.  That is until I try to do it when I’m not attached to the pedals.

The only mechanical issue was with the bars.  I thought I had them good and tight.  But they still slipped a bit when I braked from the hoods.  I’ll try roughing up the clamp area with some sandpaper or even trying to get a little piece of rubber wrap in there to see if that helps out.  I have a piece or two laying on my workbench.
