On a weekday ride with friend

The weather has hopefully turned excellent for good and my friend Meg was in town with her new Jamis for a ride. Between her tri training and the fast, well-fitted bike, not to mention the 30 years I have on her, she could have left me in the dust, but kindly didn’t.

We took our basic llama farm route, then I added a couple of spots I knew she hadn’t ridden before. Part of that was some close-to-flat areas where we could kick it up a little.

We saw some other roadies and funnily, at the top of a bridge, a female roadie who had stopped and we exchanged high-fives with as we rode by.

We finished off the ride by heading to the road under construction, aka my own private highway. I’ll just hate it when they open up that road to traffic.

Trying to keep up with Meg gave me a new personal best speed-wise. Plus I think we both had a lot of fun.

Part of our route took us through traffic. I, like other cyclists, often complain about drivers. But we never remark when they are all polite and careful. Today they were polite.

I snapped a couple of pictures of Meg’s bike, but haven’t uploaded them yet. The setting sun took out the colors (blue and silver). I will upload them this evening.

  1. Glad you had a great ride — from what you’ve said and the few pictures you have her, seems like you have a great area to ride in.
Oh! Found a great sweet/salty snack in Clif Bar Mojo!

  2. Funny you should mention Mojo bars. On our ride, as we barreled through an intersection, I felt something bounce off of my bike. Meg was behind me so I asked what it was. It was the Mojo bar I had in my bento. Right in the intersection, so I didn’t go back.

& I think we do have a good area to ride.

  3. You know I would not leave you behind in the dust.
-And you’re quite a fast momma yourself on Black Beauty.
