On the last weekend in February

On this last weekend in February, I wasn’t quite the good practicing cyclist I should be.

All last week those evil weather people promised partly cloudy weather for Saturday. I crave sunshine this time of year. So I was looking forward to Saturday morning. When I got up and checked out the window, not only did it look unlikely that there would be any sunshine, it was spitting snow.

I decided to wait it out and see if ole Sol showed up later in the day. Meantime, I tried out a cake recipe, did laundry and general household stuff. Sol never showed, I ate too much cake, but I got some stuff done. Just never rode.

By today I regretted the cake. It was good cake. But I am generally a pretty clean eater, so rich, homemade cake didn’t sit too well on the tummy.

Despite the unhappy gut, I suited up and headed out for a ride. I was pelted with a little bit of sleet for the first couple of miles, after that the weather was just gloomy. Though the tummy never really settled down, the legs felt decent. I got in 15 miles.

It wasn’t the most fun I’ve had on a ride. I got some miles in though.  Not enough, but some.
